Development Plan
- To design and use the Development Plan as a means to develop the club
- To continue to review & refresh the Club Development Plan
- To continually seek funding assistance for our development & projects
- To Introduce Key Measures to track performance
Youth & Junior provision
- Expansion of junior offering. Cadet nights, started 17th January 2011 on Monday evenings. Contact Nick Taylor for more details.
- Continue to develop our Youth Policy
- Coaching Programme - Sail Training sessions using Toppers
- Sailing & racing opportunities for cadet members via members’ boats
- Provision of social events for young members
- Encourage new younger members via: media advertising/in-house-workshops/direct marketing
Sailing Skill Development
- Make more use of RYA courses offered & credits available
- Expand training:
- Training workshops – invite experts in various fields e.g. Sail trimming, boat maintenance, Lifejacket night with RNLI
- Race Officers – identify & train a team of race-station officers
- Dinghy training – continue with & extend current programme
- Yachtmaster & Day Skipper, Sea Survival, Safety & Fist Aid, Radio– continue with RYA theory courses currently being run. Look into offering practical courses.
Site & Clubhouse Development
- Extension of balcony area – now completed.
- The former Committee Room has been redecorated and is now a quiet room with a book library and computer, for the use of members.
- Lighthouse Area – consider making more use of this space.
- Bar – continue with consideration of floor repairs & maintenance. Tables and chairs have now been refurbished.
- Club boat – consider acquiring a Rib for laying race marks & race starts and/or a 707 for training purposes
- Steward – appreciate the importance of this role within the club and continue to include him in all aspects of the development plan
- Consider Disabled Access.
- Race Station Refurbishment. A plan has been put forward informally to Scarborough Borough Council who agree to a refurbishment using similar wooden panels, but no UPVC. The interior has been temporarily tidied-up.
- Quay Street – use of & improvement of yacht club space on 2nd floor. Plan and install security gates & railings to seal-off the area between our building (no.22) & next door (no.22A) from intruders/vandals.
Membership
- Continue the current club welcoming ethos and family friendly atmosphere
- Continue to grow the membership
- Develop & keep up to date a record of numbers & class of members
- Develop a strategy to attract more experienced sailors to the club
- Create a Leavers’ Questionnaire
- Continue to seek membership feedback in a consistent way by means of a survey
- Expand the club’s profile via a Promotions Officer/ Officers
- Increase participation of members in all club matters
- Make use of Open Days to attract membership
Sailing Programme
- More junior sailing & racing
- Organise Cruising in Company & link-in with Cruising members
- Keep the sailing programme fresh by continual review & feedback
- Handicap Evaluation – continue with current programme
- Strive to continually improve the standard of sailing skills
Harbour Development
- Work closely with the local council & harbour authority development scheme and berthing plan.
- Look into the provision of the following:
- Additional Parking
- Trailer Park
- Additional Pontoons
- Dry Boat Sailing
- Additional Club Facilities
- Dry Standing/maintenance area
- Improved Lift-out Facility
